National Rolling Enforcement Plan

Folks, the shit has hit the fan! Every now and then I like to break the law in various ways and I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do but it’s so damn hard to stay on the right side of the law.

The new National Rolling Traffic Law Enforcement Plan (NREP), unveiled by Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele on 10 September 2010, comes into operation on 1 October 2010 (today).

Senior transport officials will join road blocks as part of the new traffic enforcement plan. To this end, Transport Director-General Mr George Mahlalela, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Cross Border Road Transport Agency (CBRTA) Mr Sipho Khumalo, acting CEO of the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) Mr Collins Letsoalo as well as other senior transport officials will join traffic law enforcement officers at a road block on Friday.

The details of the road block are as follows:

Date: Friday, 1 October 2010

Venue: N4 Freeway (eastward direction, between Bronkhorspruit and Emalahleni)

Time: 13h45

Sniff Sniff?

The NREP will see law enforcement officers across South Africa stop and check no less than one million vehicles and drivers every month. The NREP is in line with the priorities of the Moscow Declaration and the United Nations’ “Make Roads Safe” campaign.

As we head towards December, traffic volumes on South Africa’s roads are set to increase and a collective effort on attitude and behavioral change by all citizens will play a pivotal role in reducing road deaths.

So far it seems that they also had a roadblock on the M1 in Johannesburg and arrested a shit load of taxi drivers.

Thinking you can runaway?Nope!

You’ve been warned! So make sure you have a designated driver or call Goodfellas or something but don’t get caught out driving drunk on the road and make sure you stash the weed, please!
