Fashion Week Review

What better way to celebrate the imminent coming of the prosperities 2011 promises than with a week-long fashion explosion! Yup boys and girls, during the 29th of September to the 02nd of October, downtown Jozi was graced by collections from 37 of Mzansi’s most distinguished fashion designers. Arts on Main was the location, SA Fashion Week was the occasion and gorgeous guests dressed to the nines were the order of the week! With the venue draped in all things fine the bar was raised high for the designers to surprise and delight even before the shows started!

Clive Rundel rose to the challenge with his OTT designs made with dark knitted fabrics, sheepskin (whatever happened to anti-animal cruelty huh?)  and faux fur. I was glad to see a few ready to wear pieces amongst the haute couture. My resourceful self came across a few pics...

And then there was Christopher Strong, who stayed faithful to the basics of true style with strong, structured blacks and crisp whites. Take note my good people: you never go wrong with classicism. I love this guy’s devotion...

Gugulam impressed with their adventurous collection that didn’t exactly conform to any specific style. The collection proved that Gugulam is for the *cough, cough* unbounded woman!

I was taken aback by the bland colour pallet for Autumn/Winter ’11: nudes, whites, blacks, greys and nudes! Like WTF, winter’s already as cold as a mother, why can’t we add a pop of colour already? I can already tell that I’ll be a winter fashion rebel in terms of colour!

All in all, Fashion Week was a huge success, none of the designers disappointed and the best part, the part that got me weeing my undies, is that from the 08th to the 10th of this month the S.A Fashion Week Designer Showcase at the Sandton Convention Centre allows any Tom, Dick and Jabulani to buy directly from designers! So if you babies know anything about fashion you know where you’ll be this weekend! So Junjus, I’ve given you the lowdown, you have the pics... come next winter you’ll have no excuse for looking like a hobo (no hate if you really are one)!
Let there be style...
