Julius Malema all alone

The ANC youth league president may have stepped on too many toes and as a result has no personal security at his dispposal.

The police have withdrawn taxpayer-funded bodyguards for controversial ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema in a move that is likely to heighten tensions within the already polarised ruling party.

Malema learnt through his bodyguards on Monday that they had been told to return to head office. It is understood that Malema was told his life was no longer in danger.

Apparently, an angry Malema – who was on his way to meet the ANC’s top six officials – told his protectors they were not going anywhere until he was given proper reasons for the withdrawal.

Before - Happy as a pig in ...
After - Eish!

ANC leaders present at the meeting then pleaded ignorance of the withdrawal. President Jacob Zuma was not at the meeting.

Malema is then said to have confronted Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa. The fiery youth leader’s gripe was that he had not been notified of the withdrawal – despite the police having initially told him of his need for security.

Time to cut him down to size Nathi

A youth league leader said Malema had later briefed the league’s officials on Mthethwa’s decision.

Malema was being protected by bodyguards at a cost believed to be anything up to R3.6 million a year.

Literally, this is like that situation when you pissed your parents off and they confiscated everything you love, maybe Julius should treat this as a time out but knowing him there is not a chance in hell that he's going quietly into that dark night.
