Pig Spotter coining it

Pigspotter has been a heaven send for your average motorist in Gauteng as he alerts motorist about greedy JMPD officials, where they are trapping or where they're holding roadblocks and he does this on twitter. Seems the man has thought outside the box and has managed to make some cheese from all his shenanigans. More after jump:

The man who made headlines eight months ago for warning Gauteng motorists of roadblocks and speed traps now boasts a website, complete with merchandise and events listings.

A T-shirt that reads "I am the @PigSpotter" can be yours for R140, and he is selling the product hard.

When a follower tweeted "Your service is the greatest. How can we all thank you?" yesterday, he replied: "How about getting a shirt on www.pigspotter.co.za?: )."

PigSpotter, who has identified himself only as Cliff, agreed to an e-mail interview yesterday but later cancelled.

He hosted a party at the swank Johannesburg nightclub Movida on April 21, featuring 5FM DJ Fresh.

PigSpotter credits a number of companies for helping the "PigSpotter Movement", including designated-driver company Good Fellas, Lisa Jane Promotions and Events, and Skyy Vodka.

Movida's Twitter feed, one of 12 that PigSpotter follows, makes several mentions of the anonymous individual who frequents the club often "to do a different sort of spotting", one follower said.

Despite this increased prominence, police have yet to rein in the individual who brought the motorist web-notification phenomenon into being. There are now spin-off PigSpotters for Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London, so even if the original PigSpotter is arrested the movement he founded will continue

Police said last year that they would arrest PigSpotter on charges of defeating the ends of justice and defamation. In September, PigSpotter followers said police had been searching cellphones at roadblocks in an attempt to find Cliff.

At the time, Johannesburg metro police spokesman Wayne Minnaar would not confirm this, but said it would be legal to do so.

Minnaar yesterday refused further comment and said the case was now in the hands of the police.

The defamation charges relate to PigSpotter's tendency to call police names such as "Smoked Ham," "Porker", "Rashers" and "Toasted Bacon with Cheese".

Yesterday, PigSpotter referred to a speed camera operator as a "Porktographer".

I'm glad this dude is trying to make an honest living from defeating the ends of justice, I always say that the glass is half full. Make your paper Pigspotter, I'll defininatley support you cause you keep my black ass outta trouble from the pigs.
